Case Studies & Portfolio Projects
Hello~ My name is Zoe! I'm an editorial designer based in Busan, South Korea.
Throughout my career, I have dabbled in curriculum design, literary publishing, and editorial design, where I've had the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of a printed product. My primary interests involve developing content, editing, designing layouts, and preparing files for production. Through applying these skills, I've had the pleasure of creating workbooks, magazines, slide decks, and other educational and editorial content, ultimately providing me experience with every stage of the publishing process.
While the journey has taken me all over the world, I know that my passions and abilities really stem from one summer in particular, several years ago.
It was my last summer home from university. I had returned to a house grown old, with memories packed away in boxes. Wanting to feel warmth in the cold, quiet halls, I retrieved a game from my family's collection, one that had sat on the shelf for a great many years. That game was Grandia II. I had never played it before, but I felt I knew it in its entirety. From staring at its cover, reading the literature on it almost obsessively, admiring its artwork and typography, I had taken it as a promise of story-telling. Just one that I'd never had the chance to entertain. That summer though, those words and graphics finally became something more, and that memory has persisted with me ever since.
The stories we've experienced have a way of meeting us exactly where we are in life. This is the kind of design I aspire to create — work that shapes itself around our thoughts, our emotions, and our memories, until it too becomes inseparable.
